It’s dawned on me that I haven’t had a new post in almost a month. It’s not that I haven’t done anything. If you’re wondering what I have been up to I drove down to Calgary for a travel blogging tweetup last weekend. I got to meet Leigh from Hike Bike Travel, Gillian and Jason from One Giant Step, Jen from Toque and Canoe, and Ted from Where’s Teddy Now. I was quite impressed with myself because I was able to find the restaurant we were meeting at without using a GPS, and without getting lost. Me, not getting lost in Calgary. That’s a first.

Aside from TBEX (where I was still pretty shy) I’ve only ever had the chance to meet up with a couple travel bloggers. It’s hard to find other bloggers who live in/around the Edmonton area, so I didn’t mind having to drive down to Calgary for a tweetup. Blogging isn’t just about sitting behind a computer screen and typing. There’s an important aspect to be social, and meet other people. I had a great time meeting everyone at this Tweetup, and I hope I can attend the next one.
I may or may not being going to Banff in April. Apparently the television show Live! With Kelly is going to Banff to tape a few episodes. I put my name down for tickets, but it’s a random draw so I won’t know if I’ll get to go to the taping until next week. If I’m one of the lucky ones I’ll drive down to Banff with a friend and spend a night there.. And I think I’m still going to Denver and New Orleans, although I haven’t actually booked anything yet. I’ve been wasting a lot of time checking flight prices, and planning hypothetical road trips. Travel is coming. I just need to be patient.

Ahh, jealous you got to hang out with Leigh AND you’re going to Banff! I miss that place.
Yeah Leigh was super nice, and I’m definitely excited for Banff, although I’ll probably be going a little later in the year. I’m sure Banff would welcome you back whenever you could return.
TBEX should be a lot of fun. I’m interested to see what it looks like now that Blog World is taking over the reigns.
As for checking your flights and getting a good deal, I can help you with that if you read my latest post. I think the best fares for TBEX will be in the next week or two.
I’ve heard really good things about Blog World, so I think they’ll do a good job running TBEX.
And thanks for the flight deal information. I’ve actually just booked a few of the flights I need.
We’ve never been to a tweet-up or a conference, so at this point the only bloggers we’ve met were on a press trip to the Galapagos Islands last October. So we’re definitely looking forward to meeting people at TBEX this year!
The more I’ve been hearing about TBEX the more excited I am to go. I hope I’ll get to meet you in Colorado.
