I’ve lived in Alberta my whole life. I’m used to solid ground, black soil, wheat fields, wide open spaces and skies that go on forever. While I’ve spent summer days at the lake, I didn’t see the ocean until I was eight. My family drove through Alberta and British Columbia to the Pacific Coast. I remember standing on the sand, touching the cold water with my hand. My dad pointed across the water and said the next bit of land was Japan. I don’t know if that was really true or not, but ever since then I’ve loved visiting the ocean.
The ocean in Mexico was something I got to see during my trip to Cancun. I loved how blue the water was. I loved sitting on the beach and listening to the waves roll in and out. I loved how soft the sand was along the beach. I loved dancing barefoot on the white sand during the reception for my cousin’s wedding. Even though I can’t swim, I still loved going in the water.
These are some of my favourite photos from my time by the ocean in Mexico.

A photo of a boat I took from my hotel room.

Staring at the sun isn’t good for your eyes but this sunset in Cancun was pretty.

My sentiments after I got home.
Usually when I come home from a trip to the ocean it’s bittersweet, because I never know when I’ll get to see the ocean again. Lucky for me I was going to Victoria and Vancouver the next month. Where are some of your favourite ocean and beach places?
This post has been written by me and has been brought to you by Virgin Holidays Cruises which offers great deals on Norwegian Cruise Line.

I also love the lighthouse picture! That is an amazing view from your hotel as well! Must have been a spectacular site at night!
Thanks Mary. The view at night was really great, unfortunately my night pictures didn’t turn up so way. That may or may not be the fault of the tequila.
Love the ocean, too. Gotta learn to swim, girl!
Thanks for the comment. Learning to swim (and not just doggie paddle) is definitely on my bucket list.
Lovely light house photo!
