Mexico Is A Go

Yes after a few weeks of maybes, and perhapses (?) it looks like I’ll be going to Mexico. This makes me excited because it will be

  1. My first trip to Mexico.
  2. My first trip to a Spanish speaking country (even though I don’t know Spanish).
  3. My first vacation with extended family to another country.
  4. My first resort/beach holiday (Los Angeles in December doesn’t count).
  5. The furthest I will have traveled for a wedding.
  6. The furthest south I have been in the world (previous record was Los Angeles) and…
  7. The first vacation I’ll get to do homework on.

What? Yes due to a schooling schedule I’ll be enrolled in an online school course during my trip. Normally I’d try to avoid doing any sort of homework on a vacation, but this is a required course, and this was the only time I could fit it in my schedule. I’m going to try and get as much done ahead of time as possible, and make use of downtime in airport lounges….yay for school.

Really though yay for Mexico. Despite my father’s reservations and judgements I’m determined to have a good time on this vacation. For most people that would translate to being drunk all day and night. I’m going to try to not get too crazy. Although worse comes to worse I’ll be like thousands of other college students writing papers hungover exhausted.

In other travel news I probably won’t be going to New Orleans in February. I need to save money for Mexico. Instead I’ll stay home and try to get more shifts at work. I am considering the possibility of going to New Orleans before TBEX in June. This all depends on money and work. What can I say – I’m a practical dreamer.

Mexico is so laid back. And they do have some really, really good beaches. I’ve hardly seen any of it but just really like it. I hope you have a great time there!

I’m hoping to be able to spend lots of time on the beach. I always love being by the ocean. For this prairie girl it’s such a treat.

Woohoo! Awesome news. Wish I were going to Mexico in May… sounds fun!

Thanks, I’m looking forward to it. Although with the snow we’ve had here, I wish I was going now.

Yay! Exciting to have something to look forward too. I am at a point that I have to sit down and make a budget now too, bummer since there are so many countries in Europe that I want to see still!

You’ll be happier if you do it in the end, besides with Mexico in mind I don’t think you’ll miss a couple months of Edmonton bars/restaurants. Then you can go back after May!

Yes budgeting is a pain, but it’s worth it if you can travel. I know how you feel about Europe, it seems so small on the map but there is so much to do.

Ooh, which resort?! I LOVED my Mexican vacation…and might even be going back this month! Get off the resort too, if you can. Good to save some extra cash for excursions.

I can’t wait to feel warm again.

My cousin is getting married at the Dreams Resort in Cancun. And I definitely want to get off the resort too. Life’s too short to stay in a hotel all day.
